Mission Statement

   At Editora Atlas, we produce to our readers books which contents enable the improvement of teaching and the whole Brazilian education. We encourage and privilege Brazilian writers, being also our focus the translation of essential works that are relevant to our editorial line.

   We mainly focus our publications - text books, reference books, dictionaries and preparatory books for government competitive examination - on fields of Business Administration, Foreign Trade, Communication, Accounting, Law, including the traditional Manuais de Legislação Atlas (or Atlas Legislation Manuals), Economics, Education, Statistics, Finance, Humanities, Marketing, Mathematics, Scientific Methodology, Psychology, Quality, Human Resources, Labor Safety, Information Technology and Tourism.

   Searching our authors among university professors and professional individuals who pursue excellence in their works, we point to the path we will be following in the future, which is not different from that foreseen by Frederico Herrmann Jr., as explained below in our history.

History

   In 1944, Frederico Herrmann Júnior, the first of other pioneers, started the remarkable entrepreneurship of publishing books focusing college and university courses and professional education. In 1943, this entrepreneur invited friends to take part in the so-called "Editora Continental", predicting then a future that has really come true:

   ""It will be a publishing company (...) that will provide our students and technicians with Brazilian books, and they will have the opportunity to read in this vernacular language the best Brazilian and foreign treatisers, yet giving our researchers the opportunity to contribute producing original works for the development of our bibliography."

   Step by step, the expressive asset of more than 3,000 titles published has been built, encompassing the fields of Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, Law, Human Science, Quantitative Methods and Information Technology.

   Nowadays, researchers, students and professors, either from graduation or post-graduation levels, are assured to find in Editora Atlas quality material for their studies. Similarly, teachers, accountants, lawyers and others can confidently count on our books to carry on their professional activities.

   Encouraging Brazilian writers and searching for the most significant works in foreign literature within the fields we publish about, Editora Atlas led until September 2005 by Luiz Herrmann and today by his son Luiz Herrmann Junior, keeps the target of its founder: the complete education of the Brazilian professional.
